The joys of travelling in London with a baby

For those of you unfamiliar with London buses they have space in the middle of the bus for 2 baby strollers or 1 wheelchair. If there are already 2 strollers on the bus I will have to wait for the next one which is fair enough, I cannot expect to block the way for other passengers.

What I cannot understand is this: why do I get angry looks from the mum who has already parked her stroller in the space if I ask her to move a bit so that I can fit in as well!

It's always a chore travelling with a pram and a baby, why do people have to make it any worse? The other day I boarded a bus with my husband and the baby. This lady who was sitting near the stroller area gave my husband bad looks when he went in to park the pram! She didn't even want to move her feet.

On another occassion I went on the bus and there was already a pram there. I asked the lady (nicely of course!) whether she would mind moving her pram to the side so we can fit both of our prams and she refused! I kept on insisting as that would mean I have to get off the bus (and I had already touched my oyster card!), the reason being that she was going to get off before I were. And so? I will move my pram so that she can get hers out as well.

It's impressive, and this lady had a baby herself so she should know what it's like.

It's hard enough travelling by bus but it's not much easier by car either. People having 10 year olds in their car still insist in parking in parent and child bays leaving me and other people like me to park in regular parking bays. If you know the reason please let me know.

I tend to park my car to the right of the parking bay so that I can get the baby out from the left side of the car. However, if the car next to me leaves the space and another one parks there they tend to park close to the left of my car. So, when I go back to the car I have to take out the car of the parking space first and then putting the baby in the car.

Never thought life would become this much *more* complicated!

...And I haven't been on the London Underground trains with the baby yet!!
