Mother and Baby Checklist

Saturday, 30 May 2009 09:02 by Mari

Now that 6 months and a half have flew by we need to sort out what we REALLY need for our new arrival and for me after birth.

So hubby and I have outlined this PDF checklist here to give us an idea of what we need.

We have decided to go for quality rather than quantity. I don't want to get crappy stuff that you throw away after a few months. I'd rather invest in something slightly more expensive that can be useful for a longer time. We do not want to get every thing imaginable for the baby (2 strollers, a pram, baby gym, loads of toys and entertainment material etc) but rather get the essential.

The checklist will help us move in the right direction and hopefully we won't get too excited when we start looking at the baby accessories and get things that we might never use.

After all you need to find a storing space for them when the baby grows out/bored of them.

Download a printable copy of the checklist here. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it.

Q. Since I became pregnant, my breasts, rear-end, and even my feet have grown. Is there anything that gets smaller during pregnancy?
A. Yes, your bladder.

You dont have lots of extra things but in my opinion a support  bra is useless. Its better to buy nursing bras from before. They give enough support and you can use them after baby is born. Room and bath thermometers we never used, its easier to just feel what is comfortable. PRam shoes I never understood the point with either, if its too cold I would rather put on a moccasin or a thick sock than shoes but maybe that is just me?  8 sleepsuits sounds a lot but like we discussed before, in the fist size it might be good to have until you know if you will have lots of leeking nappies etc. What do you mean with baby carrier?  Like a sling? If you want, check out the Beko baby carrier, we have one that we only used a couple of times. Maybe you want it?
