Getting Ready for Baby

Thursday, 3 May 2012 14:45 by Mari

This week I had another appointment with the midwife and she measured my tummy which is growing nicely but not too much which is great. She said I should start putting things together for hospital (already!). It's a reminder of how fast this third trimester will go by.

I will have to see what clothes, blankets and other baby stuff I have from when E was a baby and see what we need to get.

I got this new thing called Gunapod which is an innovative wearable fleece blanket, featuring a simple layout of zippers and snaps that is easy to adjust into numerous configurations:

• If you need to change baby’s nappy or simply want to leave restless legs out to kick, just unzip the bottom.
• The various combinations are also great for temperature regulation – unzip and unsnap as you please.
• It doesn’t matter if your little one has fallen asleep before bed time, simply fully unzip the Gunapod, lay baby down, and zip back up to ensure no disruptions to their rest.

It came in a glossy box and wrapped in colourful tissue paper so it makes a really nice gift too. It is so cuddly and cosy I look forward to put it on the little one when he arrives!

Is it a Boy or Girl?

I don't know about you but I start thinking whether the baby is male or female from when I get the positive pregnancy test. Unlike last time, this time I was convinced it was a girl however it turns out it's another BOY! S is really happy about it and I'm very excited for E to have a baby brother.

The big search for the name begins and like last time we cannot agree on a name :) I'm sure we'll choose one in the end, we have to!

Baby is doing great, the scan was perfect and gestational diabetes is under control. Today I had a visit in hospital and they say the baby is growing well, not too much as you would expect with the gestational diabetes. I'm happy with this since I take good care to eat low GI foods and only occasionally have a piece of chocolate which I cannot give up completely :)

I have this weird craving lately, I'm craving champagne! That's odd isn't it? We were at friends' wedding last week and I had a glass of dry champagne, that's when it started. Hope the baby doesn't turn out to be a sophisticated alcoholic :D

Becoming a mum is a wonderful experience because you can celebrate the arrival of a beautiful bundle of joy but the experts at Johnson understand that it can change your body. Surprise!

Thursday, 8 March 2012 10:22 by Mari

At the beginning of the year I was feeling a bit off and tired. I was putting off going to the doctors but when I was waking up at 9, sleeping through the afternoon and still dead tired I decided to drag myself there. But before I had a pregnancy test done and it was postive!

It was a good surprise but was a bit worried how things will fit it since we had just moved house. But then I realized that we have at least 7 months to get everything ready :)

Apart from this everything is fine, had a scan and the baby is well. E is very excited about the new baby and speaks to him/her through my tummy. At first he couldn't understand what's going on but then we got him the book "There's a House Inside my Mummy" which helped him a lot.

We've also been looking at schools in the area for E as he will start nursery in September, just a couple of weeks after the baby is born. I have a few application forms that we filled in and need to return to the schools. We've also been going on tours to see the schools. Everything seem a bit surreal - a new baby, E going to school etc
