My First Baby Blog
The story of a life through pregnancy and after.

Busy, busy, busy

It's a shame, my blog entries are becoming rarer. E has his bad days and sometimes spends hours crying it's exhausting. I don't have much energy left and I just drop on the bed and sleep when my husband gets home from work.

Last week we had a week full of appointments with health visitors and gp's. The health visitors held up a meeting to discuss their role which is to take care of the baby once he's been discharged by the midwives. It was good to meet up the other mums whom I had met at the antenatal classes.

On the following days we had a visit at the baby clinic for the 6 week checkup. He was weighed and his head measured. The rate with which he's gaining weight is impressive and it's only down to the breast milk! He is in the 25 percentile which means he's not the biggest of all boys! But that's compared to British people so maybe for us Maltese he's of an average stature :)

I had my 6 week checkup too and everything is fine. The section cut has healed very well and I'm losing weight at a good rate too which is very encouraging. I can start doing more exercise too.

So my husband assembled (the disassambled) bicycle and I went for a ride at the park on the Saturday evening. I felt so free riding in the slightly chilly air in the park. Also, it was my very first time going out on my own without the baby! My head was clear by the time I got back, it was so relaxing. I need to do it more often! :) Euan slept on his grandma while I was out but my husband was there at hand just in case he were needed. That evening E slept for 3 whole hours giving us time to catch up on other stuff like clearing a cupboard and racking the wine (which should have been done a month ago!)

We can see E growing up every single day! He wakes up cheerful in the morning smiling and laughing at us. E loves his music, I put on some Disney music on when he's not in a good mood and sometimes he settles down listening to them. I also noticed he likes classical music. He is now making noises like 'Ohh' and 'Ahh' and even tries to reply back when I say them to him too! He made friends with his bath duck. He smiles at 'talks' to her while I change his nappy. And he also moves it closer to him and tries to snog her! :)
