Mammaa

Monday, 26 July 2010 09:37 by Mari

I will be hearing it for the rest of my life but the first time Euan called me "Mammaa" this week I was so happy :) He also calls Steve "Papa" and says "nanna". He's growing so fast, still trying to crawl around and opens cupboards and drawers.

The re-decorating of the room is still progressing very slowly. I got some other items off the internet but I'll tell you about these later when they arrive and I put them in place.

Last week we tried out HiPP Organic Carrot & Pumpkin Rice Cakes. They are very practical when we're out and Euan wants a snack. They're brilliant as Euan can feed himself and keep himself busy while I'm doing the shopping! They leave an orange colour on the face and hands (no added artificial colourings, no added salt, no added sugar) and they are not sticky (unlike other brands). Other handy snacks are the Hipp Organic Elephant Biscuits which are also great to chew on the go. Euan likes these too and they are also good when he's teething as they are slightly hard and he can chew on them. The shape of these biscuits makes it easy for tiny hands to hold. I would have preferred these to be individually packed in small bags or boxes cause I had to put them in a small bowl to take out with me since the box is quite big to carry around. These biscuits have added salt and sugar so you shouldn't give them to kids often. They taste great though, Steve and I enjoyed them too ;)

Euan had Hipp Organic Scrumptious Cottage Pie With Herbs for lunch. He enjoyed it very much. It was not very chunky but it had some texture. It smells nice too. We also had the Hipp Organic Vegetables with Noodles and Chicken for lunch. This was a big hit - Euan couldn't have enough of it. I didn't quite like the taste of this though (it didn't taste as home-made as the other meals) but as long as Euan enjoyed it - it's good.

Feels like Summer

Wednesday, 21 July 2010 20:44 by Mari

Both Euan and I just love the Summer weather! We still go for picnics and for walks in the gardens sheltering under the trees and looking out for birds (and planes!) as Euan enjoys looking at them.

Last Sunday we tried something new, we went cycling on the Thames path. We have been cycling before but on shorter routes. We got a child seat for Euan which is attached to the bicycle - to Steve's bicycle actually. I mean, we can attach it to mine as well but then it's more hard work for me - so I leave the hard work for the boys (man, really) :)

Anyway, last weekend we tried out some of the HiPP organic products we received. They're great to take along for picnics or when you're going out for the day. Saturday we tried the HiPP Organic Beef and Bean Cassoulet. It consists mainly of chopped organic vegetables and organic beef. Euan enjoyed it - he's a meat lover and he likes a bit of texture in his food. It tasted of home-made Cassoulet. It's perfect when going out. I tend to prefer the plastic bowls rather than the glass jar and they also re-usable!

We also tried the HiPP Organic Cheesy Leek & Chicken Macaroni. This is macaroni with sauce. This is not one of Euan's favourites. It tastes more of vegetables and not much of chicken and cheese and the sauce didn't have much texture to it.

This week Euan and I went for an afternoon picnic and with us we took a jar of HiPP Organic Pancakes with Apple Sauce. It's great for an afternoon snack or as dessert. The jar is not small (200g) and it was plenty for Euan as a snack so we saved the rest for a dessert after dinner. This tastes real nice! It is maybe a little bit on the sweet side (with added sugar) but Euan just loved it. And I couldn't keep myself from tasting it and tasting it again!!

And, by the way:

HiPP Organic reviews

Tuesday, 20 July 2010 21:00 by Mari

Last week I was contacted by the HiPP Organic team to write reviews for their products on this blog. I accepted and I got a big box of goodies for Euan to try out.

The box contained several meals in jars and plastic pots, rice cakes, juices and biscuits. We already started trying them out to see which ones are Euan's favourites!

The best thing about these baby foods is that they are preservative free. They are also organic (obviously!). You can take them out with you when you're out and about or simply too busy to cook.

You can find these products in most supermarkets and pharmacies. For more information about HiPP Organic visit http://www.hipp.co.uk/home

So in a bit you will be able to read an honest opinion about the tested baby foods.

Re-decorating Euan's room

Tuesday, 13 July 2010 10:00 by Mari

The main project right now is to spring clean Euan's room and re-decorate it to make it look a bit more interesting for a little man.  The theme is going to be jungle animals.

We had got some window gel stickers as a present and we're going to fix those to the window. I bought these wall stickers from Amazon.co.uk and they look great. Best of all they are removable so if we decide to move we can stick them on the new nursery. They retail at a very competitive price compared to other wall stickers and the package includes 21 jungle characters including Monkey (16cm), Tiger (20.7cm), Flamingo (14cm), Elephant (22cm), Lion (21.2cm), Tortoise (10cm) and scene setters - parrots, leaves, dragonfly, tufts of grass, paw prints and a pair of peeping eyes.

There is also a double bed in his room which we are going to transform into a play corner for him. I got a colourful sheet which we can use and put all his soft toys on there until he's ready to start using it. I still need to think about how I'm going to make it safe for him though so if you have any ideas I will appreciate your comments.
